Eat my dust 101!

38. Hire another Opt Tech by end of Aug.

90. Help a friend quit smoking.

46. Keep checkbook updated for a month.

I have to say, I was afraid time was running out for me.

At least for #38 anyhow. We now have an employee that I am sure is going to please a lot of the staff and our patients. We’ll call him Bob. Bob joins us from California and he already knows how to run the testing equipment (75% of the battle initially). He is excited to learn and has shown no rebellion in working for a woman (half his age). I like that. We’ll see how it goes, pray with me!

90. Joyce has been smoking for years and years and years. Up to 2 packs a day. She has been strong and I have been mean. Congratulations my friend! Hooray for you!

46. After the fraud scare on our checking account, I have decided to keep better track of my finances, I’ve been writing in my ledger dutifully for the past 1 ½ months now…hope I didn’t jinx myself.

Carl's newest adventure

Carl called today pretty darned excited about the newest addition to "Carl's Travels 101". These are not the photos Carl has taken, because he hasn't taken any yet, but I googled the Oldest Town in Texas and it does look quite charming! Carl's pictures are sure to come tomorrow, but this little town peaked my interest!

Welcome to the City of Nacogdoches

Providing services to the residents of the Oldest Town in Texas - located in beautiful Texas Forest Country and surrounded by bountiful natural resources. #96. Find a new Craft: Created

A good friend of ours has started his own business and as I spoke to him about running a business we started talking about icons, taglines, websites and business cards. He said he had taken them into consideration but wasn't sure where to get started...so I helped.

We found a few images we liked and the most humorous stuck for him. If you're in the Albuquerque area and need a plumber, call on them. You can check out the page I desigened Here.

It's not much but I was gosh darned proud!

Here's also a copy of the business cards we created.

Half of #72...again

Holy Crap! Can we say severely addicted?!

I have read the entire Eclipse novel today…I might add it was brilliant! Not better than Twilight, but a tad more titillating than New Moon.

I can’t WAIT to start on the last book, they’ve moved up the date for the movie an entire MONTH! YAY!!!! I can't wait!

Harry Potter is pushing back it’s release to next year so they’re not overthrown at the box office…..That was the rumor I heard, sad for them, happy for the Twilight fans!

Carl

Carl has switched trains from working at J.E. Merrit and is still an Industrial Technician, just with Higdon Construction.

He started with them on Monday and has really enjoyed it so far. They were going on the road to work for a week but was pleasantly surprised when they ended up gettig to come home that night after a job well done.

On Tuesday we went to one of the bigger sites that Higdon contrats through so he could go through the saftey shop. He also finished up his paperwork and got the ret of the afternoon off!

Today he is out and about working on the site that he went to the saftey meeting for.

So far, the change is welcoming. He is no longer working nights and comes home with enough energy to eat dinner and work out. He's pretty fat right now. (Not literally, but he does weigh more than he has since I've known him.)

Learn a little more about what he does here..

(P.s. Ever since I've learned how to create the hyperlink...I've been hooked. I promise to stop my excessive use of them in the next 2.75 years....next 101 is being created in my sub-concious)

Half of #72 times 4

Half of #72 times 4

#72. Take a lazy day and read an entire novel
under the shade of a tree.

I have successfully completed ½ of #72 X 4. So I guess this would make it #144. LOL. I have taken 1 lazy afternoon, 1 lazy evening and 1 entire lazy day to read 4 books. I gotta find a tree in NM…maybe #72 should have been “Take a lazy day and read an entire novel in the rocks of NM’s xeroscaping. Blah.

Short read but poetically written.

In Robert James Waller's novel The Bridges of Madison County and the movie of the same name, Roseman is the bridge Robert Kincaid seeks when he stops at Francesca Johnson's for directions; it is also where Francesca leaves her note inviting him to dinner.

I just adore all of Nicholas Sparks novels. I have read them all but this one…until now!

An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who has captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love—and face the hardest decision of his life.

My new favorite Author is Stephanie Meyer! Read s'more about her here..

Stephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in English. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Phoenix, Arizona. After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the "most promising new authors of 2005" (Publishers Weekly).

I read this book in 7 hours…it was engrossing!!!

As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.
Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward's sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer's writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction.

When you read a series, it’s almost as if the 2nd book could never compare. This was also a terrific read, but not as captivating as the first. I took reading breaks and finished this last night about 10:30 P.M. I started it at around 9:30 A.M.

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

If you get a chance to read any of these books, I highly recommend them!
