Unemployed

The Pot Roast is cooking, it’s wafting through the kitchen into the bedroom and it smells YUMMY!!!

Boscoe is laying in bed next to me as I try to play a little Ketchup! It’s been approximately 11 days since my last day of work and I am…BORED! So bored, in fact, I hate unemployment. The novelty wore off on Tuesday because I had nothing to do on Tuesday.

My last day of work was Friday.

Saturday was a very busy day! I had breakfast with Patty, went to the office to pick up my purse and work-bag. (I locked it in the office I had no keys to on Friday night, boo me!) I had Makayla’s birthday party, my hair highlighted, did some shopping, packed up the truck and drove all day on Sunday. On Monday we went to pick up Boscoe and swung by the house to check stuff out so my own eyes could see the hurricane hoo-rah-rah. Our house…had the tree incident of course and Carl forgot to check one very important thing…the fridge. Needless to say the mustard was moving and I don’t think it was voluntary….*slam door shut*…we are thinking about claiming that under home owner’s insurance. Blah.

We are currently staying in an apartment in Dallas since Carl took a job with Higdon up here for the next few months. It’s nice but I don’t necessarily want to find a job for a few months and quit. That’s not so fair to an employer. I should get to scrap-booking and a jumpstart on some home made cards but I think I am in shock. I’m not sure what to do first. I have been sleeping in (which I rarely ever do in my normal state of mind) and hanging out with my Dog. I’ve been cooking dinner for my much deserving husband and vacuuming a lot. I have not always been a pet person, but any amount of dog hair tends to freak my out so I vacuum about 3 times a day. Did I mention that I extremely love my dog?

Here’s some photos from Saturday.

And here are some pictures of our extremely fast growing baby!

The power is off, and will most likely be for the next week. The gas is still on and the water is still good. Carl went home today and threw out the food in the fridge. All is well, God is awesome!

#68. Makayla’s 1st Birthday Cake

My precious little goddaughter is turning 1 on September 23, 2008!

So we couldn’t very well let her have any ol’ cake for her birthday now could we? (Lucky, for auntie Rose that #68 on my 101 in 1001 also happened to be: Bake/decorate someone's wedding/birthday/special occasion cake.)

I also have nieces and nephews that live in Kansas, Ohio, etc. but I wasn’t with them for their birthdays this year, but bet your bottom dollar, their cakes would be as fabulous if I were there.

Now I have some s’plainin’ to do, and by that I have to tell that I originally started with a decorated cake from Wal-Mart. (Our house in Texas is unknown in damage from Hurricane Ike and this is my last week of work, as well as spending as much time with friends and family in Albuquerque area as possible, makes for a tough one….)

Here is the photo of the cake Kelly (Makayla’s mom) wanted…

Here’s what we ended up with:
(The blank space abov the one is where we will put the birthday candles that spell out "Happy Birthday" in alternating pink and purple letters.)

Here is a picture of the cake right out of the store and the production.

Slide shows through www.photobucket.com only allow so many photos per slide show, so I will post several slide shows a I get photos together. This was from Saturday, September 6, 2008, the day we spent at the Gulf of Mexico. We started with lunch at Joe's Crab Shack before venturing to spend the rest of the day on the beaches of Galveston Bay. Tons of fun for everyone!!! (And will be a Brauning Touristy destination for those who visit because it's only 35 miles away from the house!)
